Compete with hundreds of middle school students grades 8 and below for a chance to win $1500+ worth of prizes thanks to our generous sponsors! This is a 16 team, single-elimination, middle school science bowl that will take place on August 7th and 8th. Participants will receive updates and competition materials through Google Classroom. All questions, answers, and results will be added here after the competition is over.
Each match will consist of 20 questions. Each question will be composed of a "tossup" and "bonus question." All competitors will be allowed to answer tossup questions, but no communication is allowed. The first person to buzz in will be given the chance to answer the tossup. If they get it correct, that team will be awarded 4 points and given a chance to answer the bonus question. That team will have 20 seconds to discuss, and will be awarded 10 points for a correct answer. An incorrect answer will be worth 0 points, and we will move onto the next question. If the competitor that buzzed for the tossup is incorrect, the other team will get a chance to buzz in. If a competitor buzzes and provides an incorrect answer before the full question is read, that is considered an interrupt and the other team will get 4 points and a chance to buzz in. Interrupts may also be committed when a participant answers a question without being recognized.
