Introduction to USNCO Chemistry

Class Info

This course is for students who have a very basic understanding of high school chemistry (if you don’t, please watch videos from the “Introduction to High School Chemistry” course). The course is designed to introduce students to the first round of the US National Chemistry Olympiad, the Local Exam. Students will learn chemistry concepts and problem solving skills needed for the Local Exam, which reach around AP-level. Topics include thermodynamics, equilibrium, kinetics, electrochemistry, basic organic chemistry, and more. The instructor will review problems from previous Local Exams to reinforce what students learn.​

June Yin is a senior at Watchung Hills Regional High School. In her junior year she was one of the top 20 scorers out of ~16,000 participants in the US National Chemistry Olympiad, qualifying for study camp. In sophomore year she made top 146 (Honors). June also participated in the NJ Chemistry Olympics - in junior year her team won 1st for Chemistry Engineering Research, and in sophomore year they won 3rd for Web Design. She also formed and led a team from WHRHS for the Washington University in St. Louis Chemistry Tournament. June's other interests include track, field hockey, and art. June is excited to share her passion for STEM with others and to help them explore advanced chemistry especially.
